The Birthday Follow-up

We celebrated Annie's birthday a week ago, and I think she was adequately satisfied after praying so hard about her birthday wishes. Here's a quick follow-up (sorry, we did a poor job of taking pictures between dead batteries and the busy, rushed day):

• Glow sticks make great lightsabers (thanks Sarah!). I didn't know if Annie would buy it, but so far she's been okay with this substitute. Honestly, we have enough lightsabers in this home already, and I really don't think my 3-year old needs to be wielding one.
• We did go to Disneyland for a couple of hours, but of course without cousins--just me, Annie, and Blake. The highlight for her was seeing and talking to Cinderella, Ariel and Jasmine. She was given a special "It's my birthday today" button at the entrance, so she received many birthday wishes which made it extra fun for her.
• One bike--a Dora tricycle.
• One cake--a princess cake. I had to really talk my way out of this one, though.
• She had added another wish to her prayers right before her birthday--a big red play kitchen she saw at Costco at Christmastime. Since she did not receive this, she is still praying for it and hoping she'll get it next year.
• Now in her prayers she is reporting what she got for her birthday--"I already have a bike in my house, I already have lightsavers in my house, I already have cake in my house . . ."

Thankfully we were able to compromise and still make it a happy day for Annie. We love Annie for the joy and beauty she brings to our home and are so happy she is in our family.

Annie's Prayer

Annie's birthday is coming up very soon, and she's been letting us know her birthday wishes through her prayers for the past several days now. Many times each day Annie prays for 1) cakes for her birthday (she wants Tinkerbell, Dora, and princess cakes), 2) to go to Disneyland with cousins (Too bad all the cousins are hundreds of miles away!), 3) bikes for her birthday (notice the plural), and 4) lightsabers for her birthday (can you tell she has two older brothers?). She wants pink, purple, red, and blue lightsabers.

How in the world am I supposed to fulfill all of her birthday wishes? I only have five days to come up with a good solution. I'll be praying that she's not terribly disappointed, and more importantly, that her faith in prayer is not destroyed at such a young age. Help!

This little guy is three months old now. He is a happy, smiley baby who loves attention and eye contact. Blake loves being held (which is why I haven't been blogging much lately) and is easy to please (hold+feed=happy Blake). I love the dimple on the left side of his mouth which appears when he smiles.

Did you see the moon last night?

Chris captured this image of the moon last night--the one day this year that the moon will appear this big. It was so bright also. With all the beauty of the earth and sky, how can anyone doubt the existence of a supreme being and creator? So beautiful.
