A Mother's Day Tribute

"No other work reaches so close to divinity as does the nurturing of the sons and daughters of God" (Gordon B. Hinckley).
It's my first Mother's Day as a blogger, and I think my mother certainly deserves to own the spotlight for this post.

Mom holding baby Annie about six weeks before her cancer diagnosis. She came to help when Annie was born, and these are happy memories. She was healthy and strong and really got to enjoy being Grandma. My kids fondly remember those precious days with her.

Josh, Seth and their cousins Kate and Max with Grandma in April 2006.

Mom and Annie

For those of you who never knew my mother, you really missed out. She was a wonderful woman in many ways.

Mom was patient, kind, observant, thoughtful, complimentary, charitable, obedient, encouraging, genuinely concerned about the well-being of others, selfless, loving, faithful and always available.

She was an avid reader, a perfectly scrumptous pie-maker, good homemaker, happy temple worker, news-passer, gift-giver, birthday cake decorater, family gatherer, fervant pray-er, patient caretaker, compassionate server, and a big smiler.

She raised six children, was married for 39 years, and had 20 grandchildren at the time of her passing. Her family was everything to her, and we knew it.

Was she perfect? No. Successful? Yes. And enough. She was enough, and I love her for it.
